Baldwin's VO 660 was first introduced in 1940, and while it bore a similar appearance to the VO 100, the VO 660 was approximately three feet shorter in length. The first VO 660 was ordered by the Northern Pacific Railroad, and had an oval grill (not manufactured by Stewart Hobbies). The first unit with the more common, angled front was the EJ&E #271, built in
